NWEN presentation - 0-25mph for startups

Early this morning, I presented at the Northwest Entrepreneur Network breakfast . NWEN (www.nwen.org) helps people start companies by giving them tools, connecting them with service providers and making connections to other people, advisors... and I love that. This was a chance for me to summarize my thoughts and experiences (to date) and connect with other entrepreneurs. I always learn something when I do these kinds of events, both about what I have done right/wrong in the past and how I can be better in the future.

Here is a link to the PPT that I presented, a continual work in progress.

I also met a bunch of really interesting people working on cool ideas. Thanks to Jared and Peter for setting up the event and to everyone who asked me such good questions after the talk. I look forward to the future discussions and coffee meetings.

If you have questions or follow-ups you can connect with me on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook or send plain old email (tam@gist.com) and I will do what I can to help.

T.A. -- I've instantly become a T.A. fan after watching your presentation at STS and I am hoping I get approved to be a beta tester for Gist!

A few comments on the slide deck:

- Typo on slide 7 (Angles > Angels)
- The orange text is hard to read
+ This slidedeck is so great! Can't wait to show the CEO of my company (I work for a startup called pitchbook.com)

Brian,

Thanks for your comments and catch on the deck. I will make the changes for next time. Let me know if there is any additional way I can help. We will get you into Gist soon.

Great, can't wait to try out Gist. Anything you recommend doing to help my chances of getting on the beta?

T.A -- I did not have the opportunity to see the presentation live, but did see the video and it was very insigtful and I wanted to thank you for validating the need of solid HR in an early stage company!

Post co-founding my last start-up, Conenza, a corporate social networking company, I took some time off and decided that I was going to find or start a company that was focused on helping start-ups design, launch, and manage a great company culture through best practices and required compliance - or good HR. I was lucky enough to find Swift HR Solutions www.swifthrsolutions.com where I can do just what I had hoped to do.

I wanted to thank you again for sharing your focus on the importance of "team" and creating the right culture, something I believe in completely and often think is overlooked and not done with intention when you are growing a company.

I signed up for the Gist beta and hope be invited to be a part of your early-stage company too.

No date stamp on the comments, sheesh.... I know they are almost 6 months old!!
I say, Go Green, Decrease your carbon footprint, T.A. McCann and wipe this carbon laden blog site off the already overinfested rat maze of crap holes found rotting all over the internet.

Get to it, boy!

(Oh...and I'm using an anonymous IP address changing service so ping and probe to your hearts content)
